THE ‘LITTLE PEOPLE BIG DREAMS’ COLLECTION
Martin Luther King Jnr
Born into a family of pastors, Martin grew up understanding the power of words. As a child, the world he lived in was deeply divided, and he knew he had to change it. Learning from greats like Gandhi, Martin used words to touch people’s hearts with love and justice, rather than hatred and violence.
Elton John
As a child, Elton started playing with his grandmother’s piano. He could pick out tunes by ear and was soon attending lessons at the Royal Academy. After answering an advert in a newspaper, Elton teamed up with a lyric-writing buddy: Bernie Taupin. The rest is history. Elton’s song writing talent, musical skill and dazzling outfits have made him one of the greats.
David Attenborough
As a young boy, David became an avid collector of fossils and plants. His great love for living things led him into science, and his passion for people led him to broadcasting television. Determined to make the wonder of the natural world accessible to everyone, David changed the way we think about the planet.
Dolly Parton
Little Dolly grew up singing near the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. She was poor in money, but rich in love and talent. After school, she moved to Nashville to pursue her singer-songwriter dreams. Dolly became a musical superstar, but she never forgot where she came from. She now uses her wealth to give back to people in need.
Amelia Earhart
When Amelia was young, she liked to imagine she could stretch her wings and fly away like a bird. As a grown woman, she set a new record for flying 14,000 feet. She also flew across the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans, and eventually undertook the most dangerous mission of all: to fly all the way around the world.
Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou spent much of her childhood in Stamps, Arkansas. After a traumatic event at age eight, she stopped speaking for five years. However, Maya rediscovered her voice through wonderful books, and went on to become one of the world’s most beloved speakers.
David Bowie
As a child, young David had a head full of songs and ideas. He was inspired by the pop and mod scenes in Britain to pick up the saxophone. After earning his stripes in some of the coolest bands in London, David splashed onto the solo scene. His songwriting talent and musical skill made him one of rock and roll's all-time greatest artists. This moving book features stylish and quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the musician's life.
